The Premium Relay Module will allow you to switch high current or isolated loads from your Gadgeteer system. The module has four individual relays, exposing both Normally Connected and Normally Open outputs. Meaning you can select the best option for your application.
The components chosen for the relay module are premium parts. OMROM relays provide huge current switching abilities of 10A maximum, with low relay power consumption (75mA each). These are being switched from the 5V supply of your Gadgeteer, rather than the 3.3V supply intended for logic, meaning less noise is introduced into the system. Green indicator LEDs allow quick inspection of each relay's status at a glance.
The high quality terminal blocks on this relay module sets it apart from other similar products. By using terminal blocks rated well in excess of the maximum switching current these will provide a superb connection to your inputs. The screw and plate connection method is far superior at carrying large current loads than other screw insertion methods; the seperation strip between the individual terminals ensures there is no possibility of shorts whilst the board is in use.
Chunky tracks on the PCB allow carrying the large amount of current this board can switch, at the standards required by IPC for trace separation distances, and the large solder pads for the terminals and relays ensure rock solid reliability.
The relay board will function just as well switching smaller loads as well as large ones and so is the perfect solution for a project requiring any kind of external output control.
Remember that this module will use power more than the USB port normally supplies, and so use of a seperate power module is mandatory for reliable operation.
